February gets some love 💕

Inside: Brian Kramp, Pączki Day, Cocoa Crawl, Fox Point turns 100 and more

We're deep into February now, and this is a big week. The Winter Olympics are in full swing with Wisconsin's own Jordan Stolz chasing history on the ice, Fox Point turns 100 and Pączki Day lands on Tuesday. Whether you're sipping cocoa in downtown Cedarburg, watching a Kewaskum kid go for gold from your couch, or arguing over raspberry vs. custard filling, there's no shortage of ways to make memories with your crew this week. Here's what we're excited about.

North Shore Q+A: Brian Kramp of Fox 6 Wake Up

FOX6 WakeUp host Brian Kramp has spent over a decade going live from kitchens, bakeries, and festival grounds across Milwaukee — and he's built one of the best maps of the local food scene in the process. His North Shore starter pack reads like a greatest hits list: Calderone Club for pizza, Jack Pandl's for fish fry, Benji's for Hopple Popple, Kopp's for custard, and six more favorites from Shorewood to Brown Deer. Read the full Q+A.

Cedarburg Cocoa Crawl

The third annual Cedarburg Cocoa Crawl is Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Cedarburg. Adults get a 2026 mug, cocoa tastings at up to six local businesses, and a Cedarburg Bingo card for a chance to win a $250 Chamber gift check. Kids get their own cocoa tastings, a jar of hot cocoa mix and marshmallows to take home, and a scavenger hunt through downtown for prizes. Register before it sells out.

Pączki Day is Tuesday!

Fat Tuesday falls on Feb. 17 this year, which means one thing in Milwaukee: Pączki Day. National Bakery is going all out for its 100th anniversary with 40,000 pączki, accordion players at all three locations, and custom t-shirts. Grebe's Bakery on Lincoln Ave. is rolling out a new glazed apricot flavor alongside the classics. Kurt Schulz Deli in Brown Deer is taking preorders through Feb. 14 (call ahead — they go fast). La Tarte in Wauwatosa and Gather Bakehouse in Bay View are also stocking up. Whether your family is Team Raspberry or Team Custard, get there early — the lines are part of the tradition. Here's our full Pączki Day roundup.

Cheer On Wisconsin at the Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics are in full swing in Milan, and Wisconsin is all over it.

The biggest name to watch this week is Kewaskum's Jordan Stolz, a 21-year-old speed skating phenom who qualified at Milwaukee's own Pettit National Ice Center. Stolz races the men's 1000m TONIGHT (Wednesday, Feb. 11) on NBC and Peacock, followed by the 500m on Saturday, Feb. 14, and he's a gold medal favorite in both.

Beyond Stolz, Brookfield's Marcus Mueller is making his Olympic debut in doubles luge, Pewaukee's Jadin O'Brien is competing in two-woman bobsled, and a whopping 12 current and former UW Badgers are playing women's hockey for Team USA, Canada, and Czechia — including Hilary Knight, who's appearing in her record fifth Olympics. It's a great week to gather the family around the TV and cheer loud for the home state.

Fox Point Turns 💯

Break out the party hats and birthday candles — the Village of Fox Point is turning 100 years old, and the celebration kicks off this weekend. The official Winter Kickoff takes place Sunday, Feb. 15 at Longacre Pavilion, starting with a main program from 1 to 2 p.m. featuring an official proclamation, the dedication of a centennial time capsule (imagine someone cracking that open in 2126!), and treats and hot beverages to warm up on a February afternoon. History buffs won't want to miss the guided bus tours highlighting Fox Point's most significant landmarks, running at 10 am, 11:30 am, and 2 pm. This is just the beginning of a year-long celebration, with a massive Summer Blowout already on the books for Saturday, June 13. Here's everything you need to know about the Fox Point Centennial.
