Know the North Shore: New Library Space

The NEW North Shore Library will open its brand-new 24,000-square-foot facility at 711 Grace St in Bayside on Monday, Feb. 2. The new site features 50% more space, abundant natural light, and family-focused amenities. After nearly 40 years in an aging Glendale building, families across Bayside, Fox Point, Glendale, and River Hills will finally have a modern library designed for 21st-century learning, play, and connection. A grand opening celebration will follow in mid-March 2026. Explore the new library.

Groundhog Day 2026
With multiple local Groundhog Day events on Monday, Feb. 2, you could repeat your favorite Groundhog Day traditions over and over. Just don’t say we warned you if it feels like… well, you know.
Start your morning watching the Milwaukee County Zoo's animal prediction live on social media at 9 AM (featuring penguins or goats filling in for the late groundhog Gordy).
Head south to Pringle Nature Center in Bristol for the region's only true groundhog ceremony with Bristol Bob at 9:30 AM, complete with crafts, storytimes, and scavenger hunts perfect for young kids.
Wisconsin DNR's Groundhog Day Hike takes place at Lakeshore State Park at 1 PM, a free, accessible walk where you might spot the park's resident groundhog.
Music for Munchkins

The Whitefish Bay High School Orchestras present their 33rd Annual Music for Munchkins concert on Sunday, Feb. 1, at the Whitefish Bay High School Auditorium. This year's theme is "Wicked Music in Munchkinland.” The FREE family event begins at 12:30 pm with crafts and a string instrument "petting zoo" where kids can touch and play violins, violas, cellos, and basses provided by Brass Bell Music Store. The concert starts at 1:30 pm and features a special guest appearance by fifth grade orchestra students from Richards and Cumberland elementary schools.
