The Fourth of July arrives early this weekend in Mequon with Family Fun Before the Fourth. Plus, the beer garden returns to Whitefish Bay, the Tour of America’s Dairyland comes to Shorewood, and much more. Let’s gooooo!

The Interview: Dr. Sofya Kats

Dr. Sofya Kats has a remarkable journey that began with her family's immigration to Milwaukee from Kazakhstan. Growing up in Bayside, she built lifelong memories in the area from Doctors Park to Maple Dale and Nicolet High School. She attended dental school at Marquette University and became a partner at Riverwalk Dentistry. Beyond her successful practice, Dr. Kats has dedicated herself to volunteer work, from local initiatives like Wisconsin’s Mission of Mercy to international efforts with Operation Smile. In this Q&A, she shares her journey from childhood in the North Shore to her mission in Vietnam.

Shorewood
Tour of America’s Dairyland and Dairyland Mile
Friday, June 27
Shorewood shuts down the streets for the Shorewood Criterium Cycling Classic, an all-day stop of the Tour of America’s Dairyland with races from 10:45 am through the men’s pro finale at 7 pm. Families can claim curb-side fun at Community Hour from 6 pm, when ages 3-12 pedal in helmet-required kids races (face-painting and bike-decorating run 1:30-6 pm, and Culver’s hands out frozen custard after). See our guide to watching the races! Runners get their turn with the fast-paced Dairyland Mile, and Three Lions Pub keeps Kensington Square buzzing with live music, food and drinks 5-8 pm.

The Tour of America’s Dairyland rolls through Shorewood
Milwaukee Brat House Summerfest Shuttle
June 26–28
Located at 4022 N Oakland Ave, the Brat House provides free shuttle service to Summerfest throughout the festival days. Shuttles run continuously from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and the service is complimentary with any food or beverage purchase. Note that attendees under 21 must be accompanied by a legal guardian to ride the shuttle. Bonus: Here’s how to get into Summerfest for free!

Ice Cream Social & Village Band Concert
Wednesday, June 25 • 6:30pm

RESCHEDULED from last week’s rain-out! Enjoy complimentary ice cream and classic band tunes from the Village Band.
Klode Park Beer Garden
Friday, June 27 • 4-9 pm
Torzala Brewing Co. returns to the lakefront for craft beer and community vibes. With scenic views, a nearby playground and space to spread out, it’s a relaxed way to start your summer weekend. Bring lawn chairs, pick up food from Silver Spring, and enjoy a refreshing pint by the lake.
Whitefish Bay Farmers Market
Saturday, June 28 • 9 AM – 1 PM
325 E. Silver Spring Dr. (Aurora parking lot). Kick off the weekend browsing peak-season berries, bread from Breadsmith, pasture-raised meats, and garden bouquets while roving buskers add a summer soundtrack. Pets on leashes welcome and kids can pick up a “Market Bingo” card to hunt for veggies.
Whitefish Bay Night Market
Saturday, June 28 • 5 PM – 9 PM
Same location, but the vibe flips to dinner-and-a-show: food trucks, craft cocktails, pop-up shops, and a main-stage performance at 7 PM. Bring lawn chairs for a relaxed evening under the lights before you head to Mequon for fireworks.

Saturday, June 28 • 10 :30 AM Parade | Noon–9 PM festival | Fireworks at dusk
Fourth of July activities start now! Parade starts at Weyenberg Library (Cedarburg Rd.) and marches to Thiensville Village Park, 250 Elm St. Expect marching bands, classic cars, and free Cedar Crest ice cream in the park. Afternoon highlights include Milwaukee Flyers (12:30 PM), Badgerland Water-ski shows (1 PM & 5:30 PM), Kids from Wisconsin concert (2 PM), and happy-hour specials at the beer tent. Steve Beguhn closes the main stage until the fireworks launch over the river.

Fresh Coast Dance in Whitefish Bay has you covered with summer camps, whether your little one wants to roar through a Circle of Life jungle, belt out their inner Swiftie, hunt for pirate treasure, or click their ruby slippers Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Spots fill fast—especially the In My Swiftie Era and Mermaid & Pirates sessions—so pop over to Fresh Coast Dance’s website to secure a spot on the dance floor.

Tosa Tonight Concert Series
It’s the 25th anniversary season of Tosa Tonight, bringing free live music to the heart of Wauwatosa in Hart Park. Concerts begin at 6 p.m. each Wednesday throughout the summer. Up this week: Mucca Pazza.
