Racing giant pumpkins! Grape stomping! Wine - and harvest! The Cedarburg Wine & Harvest Festival is one of Wisconsin's premier fall celebrations, transforming the charming historic downtown of Cedarburg into an autumn wonderland. Cedarburg's historic downtown provides a picturesque backdrop for this festival, with its well-preserved 19th-century limestone buildings and tree-lined streets creating an authentic small-town atmosphere. Bayside Fall Fest

The Village of Bayside is set to host its annual Fall Fest on Saturday, September 20, from 2-6 pm. The event will feature a picnic with Usinger's Sausages and corn on the cob, alongside the Bayside Five and Wine at 4 pm. Visitors can enjoy beverages from Torzala Brewing Co. and explore a petting zoo with pony rides. Entertainment includes bounce houses, a Touch-A-Truck experience, and live music, culminating in a screening of "Ghost Busters" at 7:15 pm. The beer garden hours are 2-9 pm. Festivities will take place at Bayside Village Hall.

Halloween Houses

As we approach Halloween, homeowners are transforming their properties into mini haunted attractions. Many of these displays feature elaborate lights, animatronics, and creative themes – free to enjoy from the sidewalk or car. In this guide, we highlight some of the best private Halloween house displays in the Milwaukee area for 2025, including addresses, when to visit, what to expect, and tips for viewing.

Slow Ride! Take it Easy!

On Sunday, September 21, the lakefront will come alive with the sounds of spinning wheels laughter, and community spirit to celebrate the 10th Annual Chris' Slow Roll. What started as a heartfelt tribute has blossomed into one of Milwaukee's most cherished cycling events. Back in 2016, when Chris Kegel was facing terminal illness, his friends and family wanted to honor him in the most fitting way possible – through his favorite activity, biking. Here’s how you can join this free community tradition.

North Shore History: Shorewood’s Half Century “Echoes”

40 years ago, Shorewood celebrated 50 years of its auditorium in October 1985. The student yearbook documented the scene:

“Music from the Talking Heads, of which SHS graduate Jerry Harrison is a member, was played before the actual program began. The infamous movie, ‘Airplane’, written and directed by three SHS graduates, was shown on videotape in the auditorium’s lobby…Who knows if perhaps one day, one of these people will become a celebrity, in their own right?”
