Inside: Milwaukee Day Deals, Raptors, Brewers, East Milwaukee, Summer Camps

Happy Milwaukee Day to all who celebrate!
Tomorrow, you will find 414 Day deals stacked from sunrise to well past 4:14 PM, the Milwaukee Film Festival kicking off with a hometown legend, and the Milwaukee Art Museum transforming into a garden for the weekend. Here's what's worth knowing this week.
Know the North Shore: East Milwaukee to Shorewood

As we get ready to celebrate 414 Day, did you know that Shorewood was known as EAST MILWAUKEE for 17 years?
For nearly two decades the village grew quietly under the East Milwaukee name. But by 1917, leaders decided it like sounded like an extension of the city, not a place of its own.
The name was changed to Shorewood to encourage potential residents and businesses to view the village as separate from Milwaukee. The population quadrupled through the 1920s, with as many as 200 new homes built per year.
One piece of the old East Milwaukee still stands: the current Shorewood Village Hall was originally built as a four-room schoolhouse in 1908 and purchased by the Village of East Milwaukee in 1916, and it's been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984.
