Watch the World Cup Final at Klode Park

The Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation is hosting a free Klode Park World Cup Watch Party on Sunday, July 19, with a giant screen facing the lake, a DJ, food and drinks. Festivities start at noon, and kickoff is at 2 p.m. If you'd rather watch somewhere with a bigger crowd or want a backup option, Cedarburg families have the Elbow Room and the Sandbar. Wisconsin's Oldest County Fair Opens

The Waukesha County Fair kicks off its 184th year on Wednesday, July 15, and runs through Sunday at the Waukesha County Expo Center, 1000 Northview Road. Admission is $14 for adults and $8 for kids 6-12, with children 5 and under free; parking runs $6 a day. It's about a 35-minute drive from the North Shore, which makes it one of the more manageable big fairs on the summer calendar.

Port Fish Days Takes Over Port Washington's Lakefront

Port Washington's signature summer festival runs Thursday through Saturday, July 16-18, and this year's theme, "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Fish," ties into the town's fishing heritage and America's 250th. The packed line-up includes: Fish Days Parade, 5K Run/Walk/Roll, Family Zone and Guppies Zone, petting zoo and bouncy house, putt-putt and carnival games, fireworks over Lake Michigan at 9:30 p.m. So much more than fish!

Free Family Concerts

The North Shore has three free family-friendly concerts happening at the same time. Lake Park's Wonderful Wednesdays series opens its season tonight with The Last Bees at the Lake Park Summer Stage, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. In Glendale, Live at the Oasis continues at Richard E. Maslowski Community Park with Eddie Butts starting around 6:30 p.m. The Sprecher Oasis snack bar is on-site for drinks and treats. Finally, the Traveling Beer Garden arrives in Fox Point, with live music from Vern Tretow.

Quick Picks: Farmers Markets

Farmers markets are hitting their stride. Whitefish Bay's Saturday market runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 325 E. Silver Spring Drive (an early market for produce-focused shoppers starts at 8), Shorewood's Sunday market is 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Estabrook Park, and Fox Point's Saturday market runs 8 a.m. to noon at North Shore Congregational Church.
