The Interview: Kate Battle, Fox Point Pool

One year into its capital campaign, Friends of the Fox Point Pool is cultivating individual, corporate, and grant support with hopes to reach the $2 million design threshold in time for Fox Point’s 100th birthday. And there’s been a lot of activity at the site of the former Fox Point Pool. Hear from Kate Battle, Chair of Friends of the Fox Point Pool, on the status of the project — and how local citizens can get involved.

Shorewood

Eco Plastic Mosaics Workshop — Thursday, June 5 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Shorewood Village Center. Transform discarded plastic and beach finds into beautiful mosaics and durable rope. This engaging event, part of Shorewood’s "Catch the Wave Shorewood – Reduce Single-Use Plastic" project in partnership with the Shorewood Waters Project, is the perfect way to inspire artistic expression and environmental awareness all in one creative night.

St. Robert Parish Fair — Sat & Sun Jun 7-8, Noon – 10 pm (Sun to 8 pm)
Shorewood’s classic parish festival fills Capitol & Farwell with carnival rides, grilled corn, live music, and that famous cream-puff booth. Free admission; food and ride tickets sold on-site.

Whitefish Bay

Klode Park Beer Garden — Fri Jun 6, 4 – 9 pm
Torzala Brewing’s tap trailer returns to the bluff-top park with 14 taps, BBQ sliders, and a playground in shouting distance. Bring cash-free payment, a blanket and a jacket once the lake breeze rolls in.

Glendale

Outdoor Family Movie NightFriday, June 6, 7:30 – 10:30 pm, Elite Sports Club–River Glen, 2001 W. Good Hope Rd
Kick off summer with lawn games, s’mores, and a family-friendly movie on a giant inflatable screen at sundown. Bring blankets and chairs; drinks and concessions available. Free for members AND non-members—reserve through the member app or email [email protected] for non-member spots.

Fox Point

Freeeeeeeedom!

Freedom PT 5K & Dog Walk — Sat Jun 7, 8:30 am
Run, walk, or let the pup pull you through Fox Point’s flat, shady streets. Proceeds benefit the Fox Point Foundation, and there’s still time to snag a bib.

Mequon

DIVE INTO SUMMER!!

Mequon Community Pool Soft-Launch — Sat & Sun Jun 7-8, Noon – 7 pm
Two preview days before the pool’s full summer schedule begins. Season passes are on sale pool-side during soft-launch hours; credit/debit only.

🩰 Fresh Coast Dance Summer Camps!

Fresh Coast Dance in Whitefish Bay has you covered with summer camps, whether your little one wants to roar through a Circle of Life jungle, belt out their inner Swiftie, hunt for pirate treasure, or click their ruby slippers Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Spots fill fast—especially the In My Swiftie Era and Mermaid & Pirates sessions—so pop over to Fresh Coast Dance’s website to secure a spot on the dance floor. We’ll see you at the studio.

Beyond the North Shore

June 7 – Sept. 7, 2025 – Head south to Milwaukee’s Mitchell Park Domes for Kinetic Garden,” a summer show where vibrant begonias, petunias, and lantanas mingle with motion-inspired sculptures. The result is a living color wheel that shifts as you stroll—an easy trip pick if your family’s looking for fresh inspiration.

Wisconsin State Parks are FREE this weekend!

Kohler Andrae State Park

During this year's Free Fun Weekend June 7-8, state park admission fees, fishing licenses and trail passes are waived for all visitors. With 50 state parks, 15 state forests, 44 state trails, 84,000 miles of rivers and streams and roughly 15,000 inland lakes, Wisconsin has something for everyone to enjoy. Need ideas of where to visit? Here are state parks within 90 minutes of Milwaukee’s North Shore.
